Playing with shadows

A week or so ago I introduced Tyler to his shadow while we were playing at the playground by our house. He was fascinated. Yesterday we had some very distinct shadows as we walked home from the mailbox. (FYI for non-Californians, our mailbox is down the street, not right in front of our house.) Tyler saw mine and shouted, "Shadow!" So we stopped and made our shadows wave and wiggle. He kept pointing to mine, saying, "Tyler's shadow." I explained that his shadow was connected to him and started at his feet. He looked down at his feet and turned in a circle, looking for his shadow until he found it on a driveway. We continued walking, with him still watching for his shadow. As we moved forward, I told him his was now over by the bushes. He walked over to the bushes, opened them up and peeked inside to look for it. Oh, this is such a fun age!
