Tyler has become quite the little helper. He helps me vacuum, wash and dry dishes, and occasionally he gets to help me cook. Last night he helped me make soup. I would measure the ingredients, and he would help me put them in the pot. Finally we had one last ingredient to add - cilantro.
I left Tyler to stir so I could chop and measure the cilantro. I had my back to him for not even five seconds. When I turned back around he was excitedly shaking chili powder into the soup!! He was really thrilled that he was helping mommy and getting to cook! By the time I saw what was going on and stopped it, he had dumped the whole thing of chili powder into the soup!
Needless to say, I had to start over, especially since this soup was being made for a playgroup friend who just had a baby. (Just what the mom of a newborn needs - a ton of chili powder, right!!??) I did cook this soup all the way through though, and it's not half bad. It just tastes more like a spicy chili than chicken tortilla soup. Anyone need a chili recipe?

This is how I left him when I turned my back to chop the cilantro...

OMG, Kelly that is too funny. What a great little helper...at least it wasn't a total bomb.
