Happy Mother's Day

We had a nice Mother's Day weekend at home in California this year. One of my Mother's Day gifts came a day early - Colton started walking on Saturday!! He was at his Little Gym class and just took off walking across the room - 23 steps! The most he'd taken before this was about 3. We are very excited to have another "Walker" in the house. CHECK OUT HIS WALKING DEBUT VIDEO BELOW!
When we got home from Little Gym, I was happily surprised to find yet another early Mother's Day gift - an "edible arrangement" from my dear friend Misha. Thank you, Misha! It was so thoughtful of you to think of me, and the gift is delicious!! You are the best!

For Mother's Day Sunday, I got to sleep in for a bit, and was woken up by Tyler, who ran into my room proclaiming, "Happy Mother's Day!!" with a cute homemade card from the boys. They gave me an mp3 player, which I'm excited about and can't wait to take out on my next jog. We went to lunch at one of our favorite local Italian restaurants, Strings, then did some browsing at Home Depot, came home, took naps (even I got one!), and finished off the day with some grocery shopping. The boys (kids and husband!) were really good and sweet to me all day. Thank you, boys!

We were hit with some devastating news while shopping tonight. A good friend of ours passed away unexpectedly last night. We will miss him and the laughter he brought to us all, and we are heartbroken for his wife, who is a very dear friend of ours.

So we end the day with heavy hearts. But just before bedtime, Colton gave me one of the sweetest, most priceless gifts, which I really needed...he must have known. He gave me a kiss for the first time. Thank you, sweet Colton.

I love my boys so much and love being their mother. The loss of our friend reminds me all the more what a gift life is, and to soak it all in and appreciate it every day.

To my moms (Mom & Mom-in-law), we love you and can't wait to be with you soon.
